HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital unveiled its new Plastics and Reconstructive Services program this week during the “Bring Out Your Beautiful” event held at Windows on Broadway. The event featured Vidya Shankaran, M.D., a plastic surgeon who recently joined the hospital medical staff.
Shankaran (left) addressed an audience of about 50 people Tuesday night as she discussed the benefits of several procedures she performs at St. Joseph’s Hospital, including facial surgeries and body contouring procedures. Shankaran performs a wide range of procedures including facial surgery, cosmetic surgery, breast surgery, reconstructive surgery and non-surgical procedures such as a fillers, facial peels and anti-aging skin care.
In addition, for breast cancer patients, Shankaran can perform a mastectomy and breast reconstruction as a single-stage procedure.
“This event was a fun way to announce our new service line and let the community meet Dr. Shankaran,” said Peggy Sebastian, president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph’s Hospital. “Her willingness to meet one on one with those at the event and answer questions openly and honestly about potential results shows her commitment to patient satisfaction. Adding her to our medical staff strengthens our position as the hometown healthcare provider of choice.”
Shankaran is in private practice as a member of the Lincoln Surgical Associates staff, and holds specialty clinic hours in the St. Joseph’s Hospital Specialty Clinic located on the third floor of the Medical Office Building on the hospital campus (12860 Troxler Ave., Highland). Appointments can be scheduled with Shankaran by calling (618) 277-7400.
