SIUE launches online scholarship management and application system

From Illinois Business Journal news services

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville students have an easier way to search and apply online for scholarships this fall.

The SIUE Scholarship Task Force has launched, where students can view all scholarships, sort by keyword, filter by area of interest, fill out an application and accept their scholarship awards.

The online system allows students to be considered for more than 450 internal and external scholarship opportunities utilizing a streamlined application process. Online features and benefits for students include the ability to view all scholarship opportunities and identify scholarships for which they qualify.

Admitted SIUE students have the ability to apply for scholarships, view and accept any and all offers they may receive, and submit thank you letters to donors whose contributions make certain scholarships possible. This acknowledgement recognizes the importance of donor support and helps ensure scholarships continue to be funded for hundreds of students each year.

“It will be beneficial to the donors, who generously contributed to these scholarships, as we will have more information to share with them about their scholars,” said Rachel Stack, vice chancellor for advancement. “At this time in SIUE’s history, scholarship communication is extremely important.”

Faculty and staff will benefit, as they will no longer need to manually match students to relevant scholarship opportunities. Qualifying students are automatically matched to appropriate scholarships based on their general application information.

Scholarship selection committees now have the ability to review and score scholarship applications online, eliminating thousands of paper copies associated with the previous process.

As scholarships are awarded, recipients receive online notifications alerting them to their awards, and then requiring they review and accept.
