Sen. Andy Manar, D-Bunker Hill, representing the 48th Senate District, was named Legislator of the Year by the Illinois Association of School Social Workers. Manar (to the left in photo) has led a charge to overhaul the state’s outdated school funding formula, passing bipartisan legislation to make sure Downstate schools get their fair share. Manar was honored at the 45th annual IASSW conference on Oct. 23. The conference was held at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, located in Normal, Ill. He is pictured receiving the award with Phil Milsk, government relations consult for IASSW.
