O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument receives donated security cameras

From Illinois Business Journal news services

O’FALLON – Three local companies, Spengler Plumbing, Brewster Alexander and Wisper ISP, have donated the equipment and installation costs for video cameras around the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument, Mayor Gary L. Graham announced.

The cameras will be monitored by the O’Fallon Public Safety Department.

On May 11, O’Fallon employees discovered that two pillars at the monument were damaged. While the specific cause of the damage is unknown, there were strong storms in the area on May 10, and damage in other parts of O’Fallon was reported.

“The Veterans’ Monument is a very important part of O’Fallon, and we want to keep it safe for everyone to enjoy,” Graham said. “The community helped to rebuild the monument after the damage and now the community has stepped up again.”

The donated cameras and installation costs totaled approximately $4,200. The equipment will help monitor the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument and parking lot.

With help through donations from the O’Fallon community, the pillars will be replaced with the veterans’ names re-engraved.
