Meeting to discuss business changes in Downtown Alton

ALTON – Alton Main Street’s quarterly information exchange, called “What’s Up Downtown,” will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Jacoby Arts Center, 627 East Broadway. The public is invited to learn the latest news regarding the redevelopment of Alton’s historic downtown district, including updates on new and existing businesses, real estate transactions and special events.
The evening’s featured speakers will be:
– Barbie and Bryan Brynildsen, who opened a new shop on July 31 at 513 E. Third St., called WOW Funishings, which offers artistically redesigned furniture by 10 or more makers from around Madison County, along with five rooms of unpainted furniture for do-it-yourselfers.
– Kevin Buel, owner of Harvest Moon Home Gardening and Beer Brewing supply store, who will be relocating his business to the back portion of the building shared with Grassroots Grocery and Lucky Dog Grooming at 415 E. Ridge St.
– Terri and Glen Beaubien, new owners of State Street Market, who will share their vision for their Downtown restaurant, including new hours, an expanded menu, a redecorated dining room and terrace and more.
“What’s Up Downtown” is a casual open forum where the public hears updates and news from Alton Main Street, business and property owners, city officials and other stakeholders. Attendees can enjoy refreshments and the opportunity to network with other Downtown enthusiasts.
