Verizon Wireless opens ‘Smart Store’ in Fairview Heights

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS – Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, has opened its first Verizon Wireless Smart Store in the metropolitan area.
The company says the 3,720-square-foot location at 5902 N. Illinois St. features the most advanced smartphones, tablets and wireless technology.
As part of the company’s investment in the community, Verizon Wireless donated $5,000 to the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois. A check presentation by Mike Lovasco, Verizon Wireless district manager for the Kansas/Missouri Region, took place at the store on July 9.
Store hours are Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number is (618) 628-1326.
Verizon Wireless said the new retail store is designed to make shopping for wireless devices and services more convenient and more personalized. The redesigned stores are called Smart Stores and feature products in mobile lifestyle zones, which include:
· Get Fit – tech gear for the active sports and fitness buff
· Amplify IT – numerous Bluetooth speakers and more for the music aficionado
· Customize IT – smart toys, games and wireless gaming accessories for the family
· Home and On The Go – devices for home monitoring and energy management
Verizon Wireless plans to convert its entire fleet of 1,700 communications stores into Smart Stores over the next few years. Store representatives now use tablets to assist customers with sales and service. Representatives are able to spend more time with customers with the barrier of the cash register/counter eliminated. The company is also integrating systems to make it easy for customers to do business us across all contact points – online, in stores and through telesales.
