BELLEVILLE – On July 24, the Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s will open its doors to the community for a peek at the new $2.6 million Electrophysiology Lab.

The event will run from noon to 2 p.m. and will take place in the actual EP Lab located in the Prairie Heart Institute at 340 W. Lincoln St., Belleville. Guests will be able to learn more about cardiac electrophysiology, take a tour of the department and ask questions. Light refreshments will also be provided.

Through the addition of the EP Lab, Prairie Heart Institute at St. Elizabeth’s has become the first hospital in Southwestern Illinois to perform treatment of the entire spectrum of arrhythmias (an irregular heart beat) and cardiac implantable devices that benefit patients with atrial fibrillation. The featured lab, which was a capital investment for St. Elizabeth’s, is outfitted with a low radiation dose BiPlane angio suite, a 50-inch, multi-input display and a myriad of advanced technology systems.
