Miner’s Institute Foundation
“Miner’s Theatre is an icon in Collinsville and the region. Its unique design and rich history make the building more than simply an entertainment venue. The 1918 structure was funded by the local coal miners. The theatre brought entertainment to the city of a class not usually seen in cities of this size. The second and third floors were home to union offices and community groups for social and civic activities.
After years of wear and tear, shifted ownership, and new legal requirements the theatre is currently closed to the public and requires significant renovation to make it compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and current building and Life Safety codes. The non-profit Miner’s Institute Foundation owns the building and is working tirelessly to renovate and reopen this historic space. The Foundation needs your donations of time, talents and finances. To become a part of the effort Follow us on Facebook (Miner’s Theatre), or contact us by email at minersinstitute@gmail.com or phone at 618-972-4236. Together we can reopen Miner’s Theatre!
