Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois
“A study conducted by Harris Interactive in 2009 looked at the long term outcomes of Little Brothers and Little Sisters who had been matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister for more than one year. Study results showed that:
• 75% were more likely to have received a four-year college degree
• 39% were more likely to have a current household income of $75,000 or higher
• 62% perceived themselves to have achieved a higher level of success than their peers who were not involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Putting a caring adult in the life of a child changes the child’s life for the better, forever. After 35 years of service, I’ll be retiring in September as President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters. I’m proud to have founded the local agency and honored to work alongside our wonderful staff and board of directors to provide services to youth facing adversity in St. Clair, Madison, Clinton and Monroe counties.”
