Lambert launches three new nonstop destinations

ST. LOUIS – Lambert-St. Louis International Airport has a busy week as non-stop service to three new destinations debuts for travelers to Austin, Texas, Portland, Ore, and Jackson, Tenn.

Service to Austin on Southwest Airlines begian Sunday, along with service to Jackson on Air Choice One. Alaska Airlines service to Portland, Ore., begins Wednesday, July 1.

The airport is holding special launch events for its Austin service on Monday, and Portland service on Wednesday.

“It’s a great time to celebrate because it’s rare that we can debut three new destinations all in the same week.” said Lambert Airport Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge. “Daily service to Austin and Portland has been a top priority for this region based on the companies who do regular business in both cities, as well as the strong leisure markets there.”

The new service highlights an already very strong year in passenger traffic. The latest, just-released statistics show a total passenger growth of 2.4 percent between January and May 2015, versus the same time period in 2014. For May alone, Lambert recorded a 2.6 percent increase in total passenger traffic. Lambert has served 4.9 million passengers through May of 2015. With this week’s new service, Lambert is now operating 253 daily flights to 63 destinations. Lambert will also debut new service to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif., on Southwest Airlines in November.
