Insurance payment will help rebuild damaged O’Fallon monument

O’FALLON, Ill. – Mayor Gary L. Graham presented an insurance check this month to the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument Organization to help rebuild damaged pillars at the monument.
“Because the monument is on city property, we were able to successful submit an insurance claim that will help to pay for the damage that was caused on May 11, 2015,” the mayor said in a letter to residents.
On that day, O’Fallon employees discovered that two pillars at the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument were damaged. While the specific cause of the damage is unknown, there were strong storms in the area on May 10, 2015 and damage in other parts of O’Fallon was reported.
The pillars will be replaced with the veterans names re-engraved. The headings on the damaged pillars are Patriotism, Unity, Allegiance and Democracy.
