SAUGET – Heather Lucas-Foster, M.D., has joined Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation’s family medicine team, offering both primary and acute care for patients of all ages.
She is currently accepting new patients at McKinley Health Center, 2166 Madison in Granite City, (618) 877-8717, and Adult Care Center, 6010 Bond Ave. in Centreville, (618) 337-8153.
Lucas-Foster (left) said she is dedicated to treating the whole patient, not just the illness.
“You can’t take care of a condition like blood pressure until you know where the person is coming from,” she explained. “By understanding their beliefs about and desire for health care, you can then develop a treatment plan together that fits with their philosophy. When a patient feels listened to, it makes all the difference.”
A board-certified physician, she earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her residency in family medicine at Family Medicine Southwest Washington in Vancouver, Wash. She previously worked for SIHF at McKinley and Cahokia Health Centers, but left for a short time to pursue other interests in medicine.
Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation operates a network of 30 health centers across nine counties with more than 250 medical providers who deliver comprehensive family and adult services including: pediatrics, obstetrics, primary care, dental services, behavioral health and extensive community outreach programs.
