Lean Manufacturing class to look at wastes in production process

From Illinois Business Journal news services

BELLEVILLE – Selsius Corporate & Career Training is offering Lean 101: Olivia’s Organic Pizza Simulation, a class identifying wastes in manufacturing and exploring how productivity can be improved.

The class will take place on Tuesday, May 19, at Southwestern Illinois College in the Information Sciences Building, Room 2020 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The full-day program combines a comprehensive classroom presentation with hands-on simulation of a production facility. Acting as production workers on a pizza assembly, participants will learn how to improve productivity and identify waste by applying standard work, visual controls, quick changeover, batch size reduction, point-of-use storage, quality at the source, pull systems and more.

Lean concepts have proven to yield true results and improvement in many different industries, class organizers say.
