GRANITE CITY – Selsius Corporate & Career Training at Southwestern Illinois College is offering what it calls two of its most popular workshops this spring: “Women in Welding” and “Welding for the Average Joe.”

The three-session workshops will be held at the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus, 4950 Maryville Road. Gailyn Cornell, who has 30 years of welding experience, will provide training for artistic creations and repairs and offer a sample of welding as a career.

“I had a great time. I have always wanted to weld. Now I can,” said Cherise Sowell, of Granite City.

“I totally loved this class,” said Machille A. Lloyd, of Godfrey.

The workshops introduce the most common forms of welding and welding terminology and provide the basic training needed to weld safely and effectively.

Dates and times are:

· Women in Welding (for women only), Saturdays, April 11, 18 and 25, 8 a.m. to noon

· Welding for the Average Joe (for men and women), Saturdays, May 2, 9 and 16, 8 a.m. to noon

The fee is $89 for each class and includes the use of gloves, safety glasses and helmet.

Twenty spots are available in each workshop. Register at selsiustraining.com or (618) 222-5688.
