Attorney tapped to lead area’s new Goldberg Segalla office

From Illinois Business Journal news services

ST. LOUIS – Kurtis B. Reeg, a 35-year veteran of the St. Louis legal community and a nationally recognized insurance coverage and toxic tort lawyer, has been chosen to launch the new St. Louis office of Goldberg Segalla.

Reeg has been the president and managing partner of Reeg Lawyers, LLC, with offices in St. Louis and Northeast Missouri and Wichita, Kan., for the past 11 years.

The St. Louis office — Goldberg Segalla’s 13th — will open March 1 with a team of five lawyers led by Reeg. He will be joined by partner Paul L. Knobbe and associates David M. Frohlichstein, Lynn A. Lehnert, and Matthew A. Temper.

“All of us are thrilled to join Goldberg Segalla and to bring its extensive resources to the service we provide our clients,” Reeg said in a statement. “With the firm’s diverse range of practices, its reach across the United States and into the United Kingdom, and the respect and accolades it has earned globally, we feel this will open up significant doors of opportunity for our clients.”

Richard J. Cohen, Goldberg Segalla’s managing partner, said all of Goldberg Segalla’s practice groups will expand into the St. Louis office. In addition to insurance coverage and toxic torts, the new group also adds extensive experience in agriculture law, business and commercial litigation, environmental law, intellectual property, medical malpractice, product liability, and other areas.

“Kurt is widely regarded as one of the preeminent lawyers in his field, and many of us here have known him for years from working together as leaders in national defense bar organizations. Once the opportunity for further Midwest expansion came to light, we could think of no one we would rather have lead that growth than Kurt Reeg,” Cohen said.
