WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, a member of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture, has been named chairman of the Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Research for the 114th Congress.
“I am honored to be selected to chair this subcommittee which considers legislation and matters vitally important to Illinois’ agriculture industry,” said Davis. “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, and I look forward to this opportunity to highlight the important research done throughout the U.S. including research done right here in Illinois. Universities like the University of Illinois, Illinois State University and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in my district are at the forefront of cutting-edge research that has the potential to transform the future of agriculture.”
U.S. House Committee on Agriculture Chairman-Elect K. Michael Conaway, R-Texas, recently made the announcement today.
“Rodney Davis has proven himself to be a strong leader on agricultural issues during his first term,” Conaway said. “His work on the Farm Bill conference committee helped ensure passage of a long-term bill vital to our nation’s farmers and livestock producers. He has earned a leadership position on the House Committee on Agriculture.”
