Congressmen to be sworn in at Southern Illinois ceremony

Chief United States District Judge Michael J. Reagan has announced that the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois will host a Congressional Swearing-In Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, at the Benton Civic Center.

Congressman John Shimkus, R-Collinsville, Congressman Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, and newly elected Congressman Mike Bost, R-Murphysboro, will take a ceremonial oath of office before their constituents, family, and friends.

The public is invited.

Shimkus, Davis and Bost took the official oath of office on Jan. 6. The congressmen represent portions of the Southern District of Illinois, which is one of three federal judicial districts in Illinois and is comprised of the 38 southernmost counties.

Shimkus started his tenth term in the House of Representatives; Davis started his second term; and Bost started his first term.
