Memorial names coordinator of Emergency Management Services
BELLEVILLE – Memorial Hospital has announced that Michael Gilbert has accepted the position of Emergency Medical Services/Critical Incident Stress Management coordinator.
Gilbert was previously the EMS liaison at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, was an employee of Abbott EMS and has been the Medical Task Force leader/Ambulance Strike Team leader on multiple federal deployments.
He comes to Memorial with extended experience in Regional Medical Emergency Response as a team coordinator since 2010 and has been a member of the St. Clair Special Emergency Services Association since 2007.
As the EMS coordinator, Gilbert will work closely with local EMS agencies to ensure certification is up to date and will train individuals as needed.
He will also manage the Regional Medical Emergency Response Team, which falls under the responsibility of the Regional Hospital Coordination Center. The Illinois Department of Public Health has designated Memorial Hospital as the RHCC for Region IV in Southwest Illinois. Region IV is a regional planning group to prepare and respond to medical disasters.
