Alton adds a fall color cruise on Sunday
An additional “Fall Colors” cruise on board the Hakuna Matata excursion boat has been added to the Alton riverfront for Sunday, Oct. 19 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m..
The Alton Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau in partnership with Grafton River Adventures has added a second Fall Colors cruise on Sunday in order to meet the demand from three sell-out river cruises for the weekend. Boarding for the newly added cruise begins at 1 p.m. at Alton Marina. The cruise will last approximately one hour. The cost is $18 for adults, $16 for seniors (63+) and $9 for children.
The Hakuna Matata, run by Grafton River Adventures, is an all-weather, 53-foot, 49-passenger tour boat. The first level of the boat is fully enclosed with large windows and is seasonally air-conditioned and heated. The upper deck is a huge open air patio offering 360 degree views of the river, bluffs, islands and historical points of interest along the way.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys the scenic fall drives to take to the river instead and see the fall colors from a completely new vantage point,” Brett Stawar, president and CEO of the Alton Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau, said. “There is nothing like a relaxing cruise on the river with views of the majestic limestone bluffs which will be shining with fall colors.”
