I-255 ramps will be closed for pavement work next week

Ramps providing service on Interstate 255 between Horseshoe Lake Road in Collinsville and Interstate 270 in Pontoon Beach will be closed to all traffic for pavement work in coming days.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the following ramps will be closed to all traffic according to the following revised schedule, weather permitting:

Tuesday, Oct. 14, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

– EB I-270 Collector/Distributor Lane CLOSED

– Ramp from EB I-270 to NB I-255 CLOSED

– Ramp from SB I-255 to EB I-270 CLOSED (this will stay closed until October 15 at 7:00 p.m.)

Wednesday, Oct. 15, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

– Ramp from SB I-255 to EB I-270 CLOSED (closed beginning at 6:00 a.m. on October 14)

– Ramp from WB I-270 to SB I-255 CLOSED

– SB I-255 Collector/Distributor Lane CLOSED

Thursday, Oct. 16, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:

– Ramp from EB I-270 to SB I-255 CLOSED

These closures are necessary to resurface the ramps. Signed detours will be in place for each closure. The department is asking that motorists be patient, reduce speed, watch for stopped traffic ahead, and use additional caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone.
