OB/GYN joins West Belleville Health Center

BELLEVILLE – Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation has announced that Dr. Walter J. Yee has joined the obstetrics and gynecology department at West Belleville Health Center.

Yee will be working alongside two other OB/GYNS, Drs. Darryl Engeljohn and Vicente Colon-Alcaraz

Yee (left) has more than 11 years of professional experience in medicine and is board-certified in OB/GYN. He is currently accepting new patients at West Belleville Health Center, 7210 W. Main St. in Belleville, and appointments can be scheduled by calling (618) 394-0712.

Yee said health care is a collaborative effort between doctor and patient, and he’s dedicated to providing women with the answers they need to make better informed decisions regarding their well-being.

“It’s important for me to get to know my patients well, to truly understand their needs and take the time to answer all questions,” he said.

Yee earned his doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Des Moines University and served his residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash. Prior to arriving at West Belleville, he worked as a staff physician at Health Delivery Inc. in Bay City, Mich., focusing on OB/GYN and midwifery services. He also served as a major in the United States Army, both as a staff physician at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas, and a battalion surgeon at the Tallil Air Base in Iraq.
