COCA plans conference on construction safety

Contemporary Issues in Construction Safety, a conference to be sponsored by COCA, Inc., will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Gateway Center in Collinsville.

COCA, the Council of Owners and Construction Associates, said the conference is designed for owners, contractors, project managers and safety professionals that have a need to stay informed about OSHA compliance, including new standards and future initiatives.

COCA’s local OSHA compliance assistance specialist will speak about changes taking place in the Fairview Heights office and how those changes could affect business.

The latest information about proposed changes in the Construction Standard will be presented, as will information on what companies must do to stay in compliance with 29CFR 1926, the Construction Industry Standard.

Participants will also learn how to manage their employees through online access to the AASC database.

One of COCA’s owner representatives will speak on his perspective on why the American Allied Safety Council is aligned with the needs of heavy industry to ensure workplace safety.

The conference fee is $95 per person. Fee includes continental breakfast, refreshments, lunch and all handout materials.

The event begins with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. following lunch.
