New director takes over Magnet program at Memorial Hospital
BELLEVILLE — Maria Constantinides has assumed the role of Magnet program director at Memorial Hospital.
Constantinides comes to the position from her role as a charge nurse on the One South nursing unit. She has worked at Memorial since 2011 and assumed her new role on Sept. 2.
Constantinides will graduate in December 2014 with a master’s degree in health care and nursing administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She has been a Magnet Champion on One South, active in the Shared Leadership Council. She is also ANCC board certified in Medical Surgical Nursing and received the Excellence in Nursing Award for Empirical Outcomes in 2013. ANCC is the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The Magnet director role helps Memorial work toward maintaining its Magnet status and obtaining the same recognition for Memorial East.
Memorial received Magnet recognition in 2008 and was reaccredited in 2013. The voluntary credentialing program for hospitals recognizes excellence in nursing and is the highest honor an organization can receive for professional nursing practice.
