Delta Dental foundation has grants available in Illinois
NAPERVILLE – The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, the 501(c)(3) philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of Illinois, is kicking off its annual community grants program to provide funding for programs and organizations that improve the oral health of Illinois children.
The Foundation will award grants of $1,000 to $10,000 to Illinois nonprofit organizations that provide oral health education and/or access to oral health resources to children within the state. The Foundation will be distributing a total of $100,000 in grants. Criteria and an online application are available at http://deltadentalil.com/ddilfoundation/what-we-do/community-grants. Applications must be submitted by Sept. 5.
Illinois public charities that are classified as exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and public or governmental entities, such as a public schools or health departments, are eligible and encouraged to apply.
“Tooth decay is nearly 100 percent preventable, but in Illinois, more than one in four children have had a cavity in the past year,” said Craig Grannon, chair of the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation Grants Committee. “The need for children’s dental care in our state is significant, and the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation is committed to supporting programs and organizations that offer access and education to help improve children’s oral health.”
“The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation Board of Directors is happy to again offer funding opportunities for children’s oral health programs in Illinois. By supporting local organizations that focus on improving and promoting oral health, we are hoping to make a significant impact on children’s lives and their well-being,” said Frank Maggio, DDS, chair of the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation Board of Directors.
Last year, the Foundation awarded $108,000 to 14 organizations, including The Children’s Place Association, Community Nurse Health Association, Douglas County Health Department, Erie Family Health Center, The Hope School, Howard Area Community Center, Illinois State Dental Society Foundation, Infant Welfare Society of Chicago, Lake Land College, Little City Foundation, McHenry County Cooperative Dental Clinic, Oak Park River Forest Infant Welfare Society, Promise Healthcare and Riverbend Head Start & Family Services.
