Sales tax goes up in areas of Edwardsville
Sales tax rates have gone up in portions of Edwardsville as of the first of July.
The Illinois Department of Revenue said the rates are changing for general merchandise sales. If a business address is in one of the areas noted below, it is important that the business adjust its collection and reporting accordingly, the department said.

The taxes are all up under home rule ability of the community. The locations and the increases are:
Edwardsville
(Chouteau Township portion):
• Inside Troy Road/Route 159 Business District, sales tax was 7.85 percent, increased 0.25 percent, now 8.10 percent.
• Outside Business District, was 6.85 percent, up 0.25 percent, now 7.10 percent
(Edwardsville Township portion)
• Inside Troy Road/Route 159 Business District, was 7.85 percent, up 0.25 percent, now 8.10 percent
• Outside Business District, was 6.85 percent, up 0.25 percent, now 7.10 percent
(Pin Oak Township portion)
• Inside Troy Road/Route 159 Business District, was 7.60 percent, plus 0.25 percent, now 7.85 percent
• Outside Business District, was 6.60 percent, up 0.25 percent, now 6.85 percent
