Man gets 10 months for fund embezzlement

EAST ST. LOUIS – Kenneth Loving, of East St. Louis, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, as a result of his conviction for embezzlement of public funds administered by the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Stephen R. Wigginton announced the sentence in a release today.

Additionally, Loving was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $200 per month.

While employed by the Midwest Service Group Inc., Loving stole $25,575.00 in funds administered by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The Illinois Department of Employment Security operated the State of Illinois unemployment insurance program, which is an employer-funded program providing temporary income replacement for individual workers who lost their jobs through no fault of their own. The administrative costs of IDES are funded primarily by the federal government.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of the Inspector General, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen Weinhoeft and Special Assistant United States Attorney Michael Hallock
