Senate passes Meier’s tinted windows bill
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois State Senate approved legislation introduced by state Rep. Charlie Meier, R-Okawville, to extend the renewal period for people with medical conditions to get permission for tinted windows on their vehicles.
House Bill 5468 allows for persons with medical certificates that permit tinted windows need to renew their medical certificates every four years, rather than every year as current law states.
“I introduced this legislation because I had a constituent contact my office that is required to get a note from her doctor every year in order to have tinted windows to help her deal with her medical condition,” Meier said. “By extending the renewal period to every four years, this will save her and others who suffer from life-long medical conditions time and energy.”
House Bill 5468, sponsored by state Sen. Kyle McCarter, R-Lebanon, in the Senate, passed the Senate unanimously and now goes to Gov. Pat Quinn to sign into law.
