SIU board opts to keep tuition unchanged
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville students will not see a tuition increase for the 2014-15 academic year.
The SIU Board of Trustees today moved to maintain the 2013-14 tuition rate, during a board meeting on the Carbondale campus.
The annual tuition rate will remain $7,296 for new, in-state full-time undergraduate students (15 hours per semester) entering fall 2014.
Undergraduate students currently in a guaranteed tuition plan will also see no increase in their annual tuition rate.
With new policy instituted at November’s board meeting, in-state tuition will also be available to entering freshman and transfer students, and master’s level graduate students from the regional states of Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
The board also held firm on the following tuition rates:
– In-state, full-time students (12 hours per semester) in the SIUE Graduate School will continue to pay $6,702 in tuition annually.
– Annual tuition for in-state students in the School of Dental Medicine will remain $28,552 while School of Pharmacy in-state students will continue to pay an annual tuition of $22,764.
Proposals for the SIUE School of Engineering differential tuition rate and the alternate tuition rate for the dual diploma programs were deferred to the May 8 SIU board meeting.
