Lisa Hock, ChFC has spent her entire career in the banking industry. She started as a teller in 1980, worked her way up to new accounts and moved up the ranks, ultimately becoming a financial advisor.
p14 HockHock    After years of helping clients in her various roles, she developed an interest in the investment world. She took and passed the series 7 and series 63 exams in 1997 and the series 65 exam in 1999. She obtained the professional designation of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) in 2012. She has been with TheBANK of Edwardsville since November of last year, covering financial advisory tasks at seven of its Metro East locations.
“I do a lot of retirement planning, helping clients prepare for their future. That’s the part of the job that I really enjoy,” she said.
One of Hock’s biggest challenges is managing how clients handle the uncertainty of the markets. Currently, with a new administration in Washington, D.C., there will inevitably be changes. How those changes will impact her clients will vary depending on their individual situations.
A crucial part of her job is to ease clients through whatever the market brings. “Trying to keep them focused on their goals through changes, and particularly when the market is down, is a significant part of the job” she says. “I tell them not to pay attention to the noise. Their plan depends on being in the market for a certain period of time with certain types of investments. They need to remember how and why they are invested; stay in the market, and stay the course.”
Hock grew up in Belleville and currently lives in Edwardsville. As a lifelong resident of the Metro East, she appreciates her employer’s dedication to the community. “TheBANK of Edwardsville is a great place to work. They really get involved in the communities they serve.” She feels that TheBANK’s focus on local concerns is what draws clients to it, and makes them stay.
Another positive factor is the team approach used by TheBANK.
“If I meet with a client and discover there is a need for something such as lending services,” she explains, “I can pull in a colleague from the lending side. It’s all about helping the client.”
Lisa Hock’s years as a banking professional have brought her considerable satisfaction. As a financial consultant, she is doing what she loves best: watching her clients achieve their retirement goals with the help of her expertise and attention.
