Commerce Bank has been an industry leader for more than 150 years and is committed to serving the Southern Illinois area. Commerce employees live in the communities where they work and understand the needs of their customers.
“Our senior management team is located in the Metro area,” said Matt Gomric, senior vice president of commercial banking.
“When individuals come in, they meet one-on-one with local management who understand the market and make the decisions.” Commerce calls this a “super-community” approach to banking and uses it to sets itself apart from other institutions.
Businesses are concerned about what is happening in Springfield, and Gomric said the bank is here to support them. Individuals can come in and sit down and together come up with ways to make it through these turbulent times.
Commerce employees have decades of experience and can provide solutions to help business owners grow and maintain their business. “We do business with every type of industry,” he said, from municipalities to small, medium and large-size commercial businesses to real estate.
None of this is possible without its staff.
“We are committed to serve the needs of the businesses in our community,” he said.
Commerce recently hired several new team members. Tom Harmon, who is originally from the Murphysboro area, joined the senior management team at the St. Louis headquarters and Commerce added a new banking center manager at its Edwardsville location that specializes in small-business banking.
“We build a team of folks from the area,” he said, adding they recently added to their commercial banking team in Southern Illinois. ‘We have a full team to meet our customers’ commercial and banking needs.”
“We plan to be around a long, long time,” he said.
Gomric, who grew up in Belleville, fostered business banking relationships throughout Southwestern Illinois at Commerce’s branches in Belleville, Edwardsville, Shiloh and Columbia.
Commerce provides a full range of financial products to consumer and commercial customers, including personal banking, lending, mortgage banking, wealth management, brokerage and capital markets services. Commerce operates in more than 340 locations in the central United States and has a nationwide presence in the commercial payments industry. Commerce Bancshares also has operating subsidiaries involved in leasing, credit-related insurance and private equity activities.
