p13 appoo    “Girl Scouts is 2.7 million strong nationally.  Locally, Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois is 17,500 strong – 13,000 girls and 4,500 adults who are positively changing their communities in 40 ½ counties in southern Illinois.  The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place!  Girl Scouts are not only going camping, exploring the outdoors, programming robots and performing important community service projects in their towns, but also learning critical business skills while selling Girl Scout cookies.  Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls and offers girls numerous opportunities to try something new, explore her world and make a difference in her family, her school, her church and her community.
    • 64% of Girl Scouts consider themselves leaders compared to 44% of a national sample of girls.
